Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL ®

Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL® is a pre-moistened polyvinyl alcohol foam that wicks exudate and debris into the foam and away from the wound surface.

It is pre-moistened and ready to use, and designed for patient comfort during dressing changes.

Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL® dressings are pre-moistened and ready to use polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam designed for patient comfort during dressing changes.2 These soft foam dressings minimize adherence to the wound bed and facilitate ease of retrieval when removing from packed tunnels, undermining, and large cavity wounds.

The porous structure uses a strong wicking action1 to draw bacteria and yeast from the wound bed, killing bacteria within the dressing and reducing bioburden. It supports gentle autolytic debridement3,5 by removing devitalized tissue and aiding in the promotion of healthy growth and safe, non-cytotoxic wound healing.4

Safe, non-cytotoxic.4 No hydration required. Can be worn up to three days,1 or as clinical conditions allow.

Key Attributes of Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL® Dressings:

Clinician applying a thick Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL foam dressing to a patient lower leg

No Hydration Required

Designed to be more user-friendly by being pre-moistened and ready to use, the dressing can be applied directly to the wound without the need for hydration.

Powerful Wicking and High Absorbency

Continuous wicking and retention capabilities help draw bacteria-laden exudate into the foam and away from the wound surface with ease. The strong capillary action and a powerful, continuous wicking effect ensure rapid and efficient absorption of wound exudate.

Maintains Moisture-Rich Environment

Helps maintain a balanced, moisture-rich environment for the wound bed, promoting epithelization (the formation of new skin tissue over the wound).

Non-Cytotoxic

The dressing is non-cytotoxic, making it safe to use. It doesn't inhibit growth factors and provides protection against a broad spectrum of bacteria commonly found in wounds.

  • 1

    Preparation

The dressing may be cut with sterile scissors to fit the wound bed. An appropriate liquid barrier film wipe may be used on the periwound skin. No hydration is required.

  • 2

    Application

If the wound presents with surrounding erythema or rolled wound edges (epibole), the dressing should be larger than the wound to cover the periwound skin. Apply the dressing to the wound. The dressing may be folded or layered to ensure the desired fit.

  • 3

    Cover

Secure with a secondary dressing to prevent displacement and to maintain moisture balance.

  • 4

    Dressing Changes

Ensure dressing changes every 3 days or more frequently if required by the physician. If the dressing retained its blue color where it had been in contact with the wound, the new dressing can be left in place for up to 3 days. If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until the blue color is retained.

Note:

As with many wound care dressings, moisture balance is key. If the dressing is dry, thoroughly re-moisten with sterile saline or sterile water, then gently remove the dressing. The goal is to keep Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® dressings moist.

Hydrofera Blue COMFORTCEL® can be left in place for up to 3 days, depending on the condition of the wound.
