1996

Hydrofera, LLC was founded in Essex, Connecticut, and Belleville, Illinois as a division of Tolland Development Company, LLC. The company focused on developing polyvinyl alcohol foam for healthcare markets.

1997

Operations were consolidated in Willimantic, Connecticut, where Hydrofera continued its pioneering research in wound care technology.

Early 2000s

Hydrofera partnered with Healthpoint, Ltd and Hollister, Inc. to market and distribute its products, increasing its reach and industry presence.

2012

Hydrofera sold its business to Hollister, Inc., marking a significant transition in the company’s growth strategy.

2018

Hydrofera’s leadership reacquired the business, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and excellence in wound care technology. The company continued expanding its technological platforms and distribution agreements, securing partnerships with every major national medical/surgical distributor and buying group in the U.S. and Canada.

2022

Hydrofera was acquired by Essity, a global health and hygiene company, further enhancing its capabilities in advanced wound care solutions and expanding its global impact.
