Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressing

Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® offers specialty dressings for ostomy appliances, where the need to manage bioburden is always a priority.

Our Ostomy dressing provides effective protection against a broad spectrum of bacteria and yeast that commonly trouble stoma sites.

A unique antibacterial wound dressing for use under ostomy barriers to help manage bioburden and the body’s own immune system to help restore bacterial balance.

Providing protection against a wide range of bacteria and yeast commonly found around peristomal sites, Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressings include a moisture-retentive backing and can be used under barriers without affecting barrier adhesion.

Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® antibacterial foam dressings are constructed with an open-celled PVA foam, effectively managing exudate to promote wound healing.

No hydration required, but may be hydrated if clinically indicated. Can be worn up to three days,1 or as clinical conditions allow.

Key Attributes of Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressings:

Specialized Ostomy Shape

An antibacterial wound dressing designed for use under ostomy barriers. The powerful Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® dressing in the specialized Ostomy shape allows for the same benefits of Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® dressings to be granted around peristomal sites.

Powerful Wicking and High Absorbency

Continuous wicking and retention capabilities help draw bacteria-laden exudate into the foam and away from the wound surface with ease. The strong capillary action and a powerful, continuous wicking effect ensure rapid and efficient absorption of wound exudate.

Maintains Moisture-Rich Environment

Helps maintain a balanced, moisture-rich environment for the wound bed, promoting epithelization (the formation of new skin tissue over the wound).

Non-Cytotoxic

The dressing is non-cytotoxic, making it safe to use. It doesn't inhibit growth factors and provides protection against a broad spectrum of bacteria commonly found in wounds.

  • 1

    Site Preparation

Debride the wound of any necrotic tissue prior to the initial application of the dressing. Clean the wound with normal saline or an appropriate cleansing solution.

  • 2

    Application

Trim the inner diameter of the Ostomy dressing to fit around the stoma. If needed, trim the outer edge of the dressing as well, ensuring that at least ½" of skin barrier extends beyond the outer edge of the dressing. Apply the film side of the dressing to the ostomy skin barrier. Apply the skin barrier to the skin.

  • 3

    Dressing Changes

Apply a new dressing with each skin barrier change and at least every 3 days. If there is increased exudate or the wound condition changes, change the dressing more frequently.

  • 4

    For Extra Security

Consider using an ostomy belt or skin barrier with a tape border. Consider using a larger skin barrier to ensure coverage over the entire wound area and so there is an adequate skin barrier around the outer circumference of the Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressing.

Note:

Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressings can be left in place for up to 3 days, depending on the condition of the wound.

Ensure dressing changes every 3 days or more frequently if required by the physician. If the dressing retained its blue color where it had been in contact with the wound, the new dressing can be left in place for up to 3 days. If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until the blue color is retained.

No hydration required, but may be hydrated if clinically indicated.
