Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC Tunnel ®
Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® offers specialty dressings for sinus track and tunnels, where the need to manage bioburden is always a priority.
Our Tunnel dressings are designed with high tensile strength, making it easy and comfortable to remove without causing damage to the wound and is ideal for deep, tunneling, or shallow wounds.
Key attributes of Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC Tunnel Dressing:

Powerful wicking
Strong wicking and retention capabilities help draw bacteria-laden exudate into the foam and away from the wound surface with ease. This is achieved by taking advantage of the natural negative pressure through capillary flow.
Edge Effect
Helps resolve rolled or epiboled wound edges.
Maintains moisture-rich environment
Helps maintain a balanced, moisture-rich environment for the wound bed, improving blood flow to the wound site and promoting epithelization (the formation of new skin tissue over the wound).
Non-cytotoxic
The dressing is non-cytotoxic, making it safe to use. It doesn't inhibit growth factors or fibroblasts and provides protection against a broad spectrum of bacteria in all phases of the wound-healing process.

Application Guide
Learn moreHydrate and squeeze
Hydrate with sterile saline or sterile water for approximately 60 seconds, squeezing out any excess liquid.
Apply the tunnel dressing
For flat wound, cut dressing to fit wound bed. If rolled wound edges are present, overlap the wound edge by ½ centimeter. The dressing should cover both the wound and periwound area. If the wound has depth, loosely fill the cavity, undermining, sinus tract or tunnel with the dressing.
Cover the dressing
Cover and secure the tunnel dressing with secondary dressing.
Dressing changes
Ensure to change the dressing every 3 days and as required. If the dressing retained its blue color where it had been in contact with the wound, the new dressing can be left in place for up to 3 days. If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until blue color is retained.
Note:
- If the dressing retained its blue color where it had been in contact with the wound, the new dressing can be left in place for up to 3 days.
- If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until blue color is retained.
- If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until blue color is retained.
As with many wound care dressings, moisture balance is key. If the dressing becomes dry, remoisten with sterile saline or sterile water to prevent wound bed irritation.

Want to find out more?
Hydrofera Blue® offers a powerful suite of antibacterial wound dressings that use a proprietary polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or polyurethane (PU) foam in combination with two naturally occurring, organic pigments – methylene blue and gentian violet – for wound healing.
These sponge-like foams have impressive absorptive capabilities that help draw debris and exudate away from the wound bed through natural negative pressure. This action also attracts the body's natural healing agents to the wound, promoting improved healing. By removing bacterial bioburden from the wound, Hydrofera Blue dressings can help reduce the wound size and accelerate healing.
Hydrofera Blue products are ideal for wounds with light, moderate, and heavy exudate. They are safe, effective, and versatile, creating a balanced healing environment and supporting all phases of the wound healing process.
Hydrofera Blue dressings are used in wound care management and are specifically designed to help manage and heal various types of wounds. They are primarily used for exudate management and can be used in a range of wound types, including:
- Pressure ulcers
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Venous insufficiency ulcers
- Post-surgical incisions
Ensure to select the most suitable type of Hydrofera Blue dressing based on the wound's specific needs and the healing stage to promote optimal wound healing.
